Arrest Records
Background searches are getting faster, cheaper and more comprehensive, making it very difficult, if not impossible, to hide embarrassing episodes from your past. Even if the charges were dropped, or if the incident was far in the past, an arrest can present a permanent bar to employment. One course of action is to seek official expungement of an arrest.
Contingent Job Offers
Job offers may be contingent on subsequent investigations conducted by the company, such as background, reference and even credit checks. Negative results can result in withdrawal of the offer, or termination of employment if you have begun to work. Also, changes in business conditions can an offer to be rescinded, or the nature of the job to change dramatically.
